I guess it gets harder to guess in a place so multicultural. You’d never know if someone was born here or overseas. In Japan (or Italy) it would be pretty clear when someone “came from somewhere else” .
"One of those entrepreneur Chads." I am cackling. You didn't even need to add any other descriptors, I know exactly the kind of person you're talking about 😂
Also, matcha is the best!! But I agree that it really does depend on where you go to get it. Chai is definitely a safer choice at an unvetted shop.
A delightful read as always, Barbs! Thanks for sharing
Haha sounds like I need to brace the matcha! 🍵 I’ve never tried it (or bubble tea) which sounds very uncultured of me! But love loose leaf black teas, chai lattes, and even just spicy chai tea leaf mixes.
My baby sister loves all things Japan and tries to tell me but it was years before I tried green juice. It’s just blended green drinks that don’t quite have the same appeal. I’d not consider myself a fussy eater but my drinks are limited to sparkling water, tea, and the odd soda! 🤣 (Obvs alcohol from time to time too but I rarely drink these days.) I will side quest at some point and try it. Maybe when I’m in Glasgow with my colleague to go to the book festival with her as she also loves matcha! 🙈
I wonder why Australian's have to be so careful about asking one's background? Why are we so sensitive?!?
Love your epiphany on the drinks 😁

There are so many Chads! They all subscribed to Andrew Tate's blueprint and you really can't unsee them.
Thanks for validating my theories about tea XD I was reaaaally bored and I could have been rambling about nonsense ~
