“What defines a burger?” he asked. “Anything between two halves of a bun” I replied. “Ok, I hold half a burger bun here in Australia, you hold one over in Italy. Everything between us is burger."
"Statistically, every time I introduced a boyfriend to my friends it was also the last time they saw each other." ... potentially homicidal pistachio, perhaps?
"Gentle reminder that ‘outside’ or, as I like to call it: the outernet, is where spiders live." Hahahaha!!! Culture over practicality - feeling your pain!!
Thanks for reading! I've always felt like pistachios are a bit of an odd food. They look hard on the outside with their shell, but even the shell is funny because it just splits in half, and then there is a green nut inside, which is again a bit weird. Plus, the name, pistachio, is entertaining to say out loud. As you can tell, I often identify as a pistachio ;)
The conversation starters made me laughed out loud. I have personal experience on this and mine were "Do you ride elephants to school?", "Do ties come from Thailand?" and my most favourite, "Is Thailand, Taiwan?". Granted, this was back in the late 90s so you're forgiven for thinking all Asians were 'made in Taiwan'. Thank you for sharing this cute story. Made me smile when I think of you just showing up all seriously together at his parents house.
Ties from Thailand?! That's such an anglocentric thing to ask... I'm low-key embarrassed for them but also, there was probably a time when I assumed elephants were more common and friendly than in reality (I blame the Jungle Book! hahah)

I like Italy. "Are you from a Mafia family?" was a good one, ROFL!

I am glad you liked it! the classic 'meet cute' stories may be movie-worthy but it's the messy ones we often experience, right?
